VRV, the fandom-focused video platform, just announced that HarmonQuestSeason 3 will premiere Sunday, August 18th, with new episodes airing every Sunday exclusively on VRV; the new season will run for a total of 10 episodes. If you haven’t watched the first two seasons, which are currently available on the streaming platform, you’re missing out. HarmonQuest is a mixed animation and live-action comedy series from Dan Harmon and Spencer Crittenden that follows a colorful cast of characters through a fantasy role-playing game with a live audience. Their unpredictable adventures are then animated and edited to match up with the live-action table read, to hilarious results.

Made to match the mood of our current times, The Emperor’s Newest Clothes is a colorful, music-filled makeover of the well-known tale. The whimsical 2D short was animated at Starburns Industries and features the voices of Emmy winners Alan Alda and Jeff Daniels alongside Alison Pill, with original songs by Tony Award-winning composer William Finn.

When Phil Matarese and Mike Luciano’s offbeat adult comedy Animals premiered on HBO in early 2016, fans quickly fell for its cast of New York City pigeons, rats, flies, squirrels, turkeys and bedbugs who face the daily trials of life in the big city with remarkable resilience. Matarese and Luciano, who are former New York advertising agency creatives, came up with the idea of the show as they observed a pair of pigeons outside their office window and started to speak to each other from the birds’ point of view! After their first animated short received acclaim at SXSW and Palm Springs Int’l ShortFest, HBO greenlit the concept as a series. The dynamic duo, who also voice many of the characters, took some time out of their busy schedule to tell us all about the third season of Animals, which premieres on HBO on August 3.

Eels have revealed the brilliant animated video for their song "Bone Dry" from new album The Deconstruction - and you can watch it first via The Independent. 

Drawing on influences such as Disney's 1929 animation Skeleton Dance, along with the works of Ray HarryHausen [1963's Jason and the Argonauts] and Chris Hopewell [Radiohead, 'Burn The Witch', Run The Jewels, 'Don't Get Captured'], the video was produced and directed by Starburn Industries.

Starburns Industries, the studio that has brought us the science fiction insanity of RICK AND MORTY and the stop-motion animated drama of ANOMALISA is once again breaching traditional conventions and genres with a brand new Kickstarter campaign in order to publish a pitch black fantasy horror graphic novel, THE CRAWLING KING.

An anthology of horror stories set in the fantasy world of Gyldenbrae as eldritch forces twist the kingdom into terrors. The book, from award-winning Icelandic animation director Einar Baldvin, sounds and looks grimmer than even Grimm’s Fairy Tales! The book will be released as a physical tome, complete with aged, worn pages as well as hand drawn, horrifying illustrations that appear like fables from The Necronomicon.

HBO has renewed “Animals” for Season 3 ahead of its Season 2 finale, the premium cable channel announced Friday.

The series was created by executive producers Phil Matarese and Mike Luciano, with Duplass Brothers Productions producing.  The animated comedy series focuses on the downtrodden creatures native New York City,  including rats, pigeons, and bedbugs.  Matarese and Luciano also write and direct all the episodes, and voice many of the characters.

Mark Duplass and Jay Duplass also executive produce the series, with producers James Fino, Joe Russo II, Kenny Micka, and co-executive producer Jen Roskind.  The animation for “Animals” was created with Dan Harmon’s Starburns Industries, the studio known for the TV series “Rick & Morty” and the feature film “Anomalisa.”

You can be forgiven for thinking that the new show from Dan Harmon, creator of Community and Rick and Morty, might come off as niche. Available on the new comedy streaming service Seeso, Harmonquest features comedians playing Pathfinder — a tabletop role-playing game similar to Dungeons and Dragons — in front of a live audience and behind a table furnished with character sheets, snacks and myriad colorful dice.

Viceland’s new show, Party Legends, will seek to unpeel the mystery of what happens when the party moves to the after-party, and then the hotel lobby. Party Legends features celebrities like T.J. Miller, Fred Armisen, Margaret Cho, Estelle, Alia Shawcat, Dennis Rodman, Earl Sweatshirt, and many others recounting their most epic party stories, with filmmaker Lance Bangs setting their words to animation by Starburns Industries (the people who bring you Rick & Morty).
