‘Anomalisa,’ a Stop-Motion Feature at MoMA

Between 2005 and 2008, Cartoon Network’s late-night programming block Adult Swim ran “Moral Orel,” a hilariously stinging and subversive stop-motion series created by Dino Stamatopoulos. “Moral Orel” — a lampoon of 1960s and ’70s inspirational children’s fare like Art Clokey’s “Davey and Goliath” — avoided glib messages of uplift in its tales of a Midwestern boy whose religious faith remains steadfast despite the shortcomings of adults around him.
